Who’s Who in Portraits 3: British Monarchs
In the third part of our series on Who's Who in Portraits we tackle the kings and queens of England and demonstrate that from the full-fledged reappearance of realistic portraiture during the reign of the Tudors to that of the present queen, Elizabeth II, few if any escaped the poetic scalpel of their artists. Monarchs, some of whom were used to executing their subjects, we now see de-faced when executed by their artists.
